    Lane ESD Planetarium

Ever wonder how the sun stays up in the sky? Or what it's like on other planets? And what are stars made of? What happens in other galaxies, and are we alone in the universe? Join us at the Lane Education Service District (ESD) Planetarium and discover some pretty far out places.

The Planetarium is the second largest in the Pacific Northwest. Its Minolta star projector simulates the night sky, projecting some 6,000 stars, the planets, our moon and sun onto its forty foot dome. Using video all-sky and dozens of effect projectors, the Planetarium offers year-around educational/entertainment programming.

Access to remote electronic data beamed into the Planetarium allows audiences to witness the birth of stars, distant galaxies, newly discovered comets, and other cosmic events as they happen.

Program topics range from a journey through our solar system; the known universe; identifying seasonal planets and constellations, and the Hubble Space Telescope. These programs are family oriented and change quarterly.

The Planetarium offers laser rock shows on weekend evenings as well as a variety of special shows relating to current astronomical events.

Call our information line for show schedule. Come visit and experience the Planetarium.
